judgecorp writes "Software defined radio (SDR) is creating new routes for malicious activity according to security consultants. SDR is coming into use to enable devices to skip easily between different radio technologies such as LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi and WiMax, but the other side of the coin is it could also make it easy for attackers to hit criticial infrastructure such as a the emergency services, which currently relies on obscurity to keep its signals safe. The same argument (what if the bad guys use it for harm?) could be applied to most new technology, but it's a timely warning."
